Ambassador Series Program with His Excellency Arturo Sarukhan Ambassador of Mexico, January 31, 2012
 His Excellency Arturo Sarukhan will speak to the World Affairs Council members and guests about Mexican foreign policy issues. A range of topics will be covered, including the current state of the U.S.-Mexico relationship, efforts in the fight against Transnational Criminal Organizations, and on Mexico's network of trade agreements. 
Ambassador Sarukhan is a career diplomat who first served in the Mexican Embassy in the U.S. in 1993, as Chief of Staff and then as head of the counternarcotics office. In 2000, he became Chief of Policy Planning at the Foreign Ministry and, in 2003, was appointed by the President as Mexican Consul-General to New York City. In 2006, he joined the Presidential Campaign of Felipe Calderon as Foreign Policy Advisor and International Spokesperson. In November 2006, he received the rank of Ambassador and, in February 2007, was appointed Mexican Ambassador to the United States. He holds a B.A. in International Relations from El Colegio de Mexico and an M.A. in U.S. Foreign Policy from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
