In a technologically advanced, post Cold War Era; the world has undergone a serious transformation. The geopolitical landscape is not that of the waters charted by our ancestors and we must be prepared to deal with those changes effectively. Identifying and addressing these changes is the idea behind Laurent Cohen-Tanugi’s new book: The Shape of the World to Come. Tanugi addressed the World Affairs Council and its guests Thursday, October 23rd. Recent events have forced us to be aware of a structural change in the geopolitical landscape. Marwan Muasher, distinguished diplomat and peace advocate, addressed a captivated audience discussing the premise of his new book, The Arab Center: The Promise of Moderation on Monday, September 8, 2008. Dr. Muasher explained that not only is there an Arab Center on peace but that peace initiatives started by the Arab Center, rather than by Israeli peace efforts. He stated that his book emphasizes why moderation is important. He makes solid points detailing that moderation from all sides and in various aspects is essential for peace. (more…)
