Far be for anyone to refer to Rajiv Chandrasekaran’s new book Imperial Life in the Emerald City as funny, but one can certainly appreciate its gripping portrayal of real life irony as both addictive and incredibly entertaining. So although he prefaced his discussion at the World Affairs Council of DC’s Author Series Event with the statement that he wouldn’t make arguments for or against either the initial invasion or the choice of Paul Bremer as a leader, Mr. Chandrasekaran certainly was able to pick apart almost every other aspect of the Coalition Provisional Authority’s (CPA) policy from before its creation on April 21, 2003 to its dissolution on June 28, 2004.
