ogego  His Excellency Peter Nicholas Rateng’ Oginga Ogego was appointed the Kenyan Ambassador to the United States on September 5, 2006.  Prior to this appointment, His Excellency served as the Kenyan High Commissioner for Canada and as the Kenyan Ambassador to Cuba.  Ambassador Ogego has also served domestic posts, particularly in the Kenyan Office of the President as Commissioner of Special Programs, Vice Chairman of National Disaster and a member of the Emergency Response Committee.  Aside from his government positions, His Excellency involved himself in various charitable agencies in Nairobi including the Development Communication Institute, the Social Development Network, and the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation as its consulting director.

Ambassador Ogego has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Makerere University in Uganda as well as a graduate certificate in Developmental Law, Human Rights, and Social Justice from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague.

 

prudence_bushnellAs CEO of Sage Associates, Prudence Bushnell works with senior executives to enhance leadership performance, particularly during crises. Her work with public and private sector institutions around the country builds upon experiences and achievements in the U.S. Foreign Service, which included assignments as Ambassador to the Republics of Guatemala (1999-2002) and Kenya (1996-1999), and Dean of the Leadership and Management School at the Foreign Service Institute (2002-2005). Ms. Bushnell also served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs in Washington, D.C., and held positions in Bombay, India; the Foreign Service Institute; and Dakar, Senegal. Before joining the Foreign Service in 1981, Ms. Bushnell had a successful career in management and leadership training.

On her departure from the Department of State in 2005, Ms. Bushnell was awarded the prestigious Distinguished Honor Award for years of exceptional service. In 2004, she received the "Service to America Career Achievement Medal" for her leadership in the aftermath of the 1998 Al Qaeda bombing of her embassy and her efforts to bring attention to the genocide in Rwanda in 1994. Her role during the genocide was portrayed by Debra Winger in the film Sometimes in April released in 2005. Additional honors include an earlier Distinguished Honor Award, the Nairobi Mission Award for Heroism, and the Department of Commerce "Peace through Commerce" Award. Hartwick College and The Sage Colleges have conferred honorary doctorate degrees. Ms. Bushnell's written works on leadership and terrorism have been published by the Cambridge University Press and the Foreign Service Journal.

Born in Washington, D.C., and educated in Germany, France, Pakistan, and Iran, Ms. Bushnell holds a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Maryland and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Russell Sage College.
