WorldQuest

In September 2007, the World Affairs Council of Washington began sponsoring, Young Professionals WorldQuest, an international affairs and current event trivia game. WorldQuest is a Flagship Program of the World Affairs Council system. The game was created by the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, North Carolina and is now widely played at the adult and high school level.

The game is a contest between 4-person teams of area residents. These teams can be representative of your company, organization, school, or have no affiliation. It is moderated by a prominent person in the field of international affairs or journalism. Teams compete by answering rounds of questions projected by PowerPoint onto a screen. The questions test knowledge of current affairs, world leaders, geography, recent history, flags, international organizations, countries, regions, the world economy, culture, religion, and more. A full competition is 70 questions, 7 rounds of 10 questions per round. The winning team is the team with the highest number of correct answers.

Academic WorldQuest

The World Affairs Council of Washington, DC will be hosting an Academic WorldQuest competition in January 2008. Academic WorldQuest is a Flagship Program of the world affairs council system. The game was invented by the Charlotte Council and is now widely played at the adult and high school levels around the country. It is a team game testing competitors' knowledge of international affairs, geography, history, and culture.  By winning the World Affairs Council of Washington, DC competition, the winning team qualifies to compete in the World Affairs Councils of America's national competition in Washington, DC in March 2010. The World Affairs Councils of America started the national competition in Washington, DC in March 2003. 

The game is a contest between 4-person teams representing a high school or city. It is moderated by a prominent person in the field of international affairs or journalism. Teams compete by answering rounds of questions projected by PowerPoint onto a screen. The questions test their knowledge of current affairs, world leaders, geography, recent history, flags, international organizations, countries, regions, the world economy, culture, religion, and more. A full competition is 100 questions, 10 rounds of 10 questions per round. The winning team is the team with the highest number of right answers.

The National Competition Weekend hosted by World Affairs Councils of America during March 2008. The 3-hour competition is embedded in a long weekend of activities in Washington. Friday night is a dinner and mixer. Beginning in 2007, Academic WorldQuest is played on Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon is free time for the students to explore the monuments and museums in Washington, DC.  Sunday morning is free time for participants to sightsee in Washington, DC.

Super WorldQuest

In partnership with the National Press Club, the World Affairs Council - Washington, DC held the first annual Super WorldQuest competition at the Press Club on March 30, 2010. The Super WorldQuest competition follows the same format as the Young Professional's program; however, the prizes awarded to the winning teams are of higher value. The event was emceed by WAC-DC Board member and CEO of Bevkirk International, LLC, Beverly Kirk. This year fifty teams competed for the following prizes:

- Grand Prize: Premium economy class roundtrip airfare for four to London
- 2nd Place: 8 SkyBox tickets for 4/6/10 Washington Wizards game at the Verizon Center
- 3rd Place: Ritz-Carlton weekend stay package
- 4th Place: 2 tickets to any National Press Club luncheon ($140 value); $50 gift certificate to the "Fourth Estate" restaurant, located at the NPC.
- 5th Place: Borders Book Package ($125 value)
- 6th Place: 8 tickets to a WAC-DC Embassy Series event during June, August, September, October or November of 2010.
