For over 70 years the United Nations has variously evoked respect, indifference, and outrage from U.S. media. In an ever-increasing global society how do we understand the role of the United Nations, how it began, and how it fits in our world today?

Join the World Affairs Council-Washington, DC as we host Ian Williams author of, UNtold: The Real Story of the United Nations in Peace and War. Mr. Williams shares his insight on how the United Nations has developed over the years, as well how it functions in today’s society.

Ian Williams is an author who has covered the United Nations since 1989. Mr. Williams has twice served as President of the UN Correspondents’ Association. As well as being a media trainer, advisor for international organizations, companies, and NGOs, Mr. Williams was a columnist for the Guardian-American online, senior analyst for Foreign Policy in Focus, and editor for the World Policy Journal.
